In ELA, we continued working on our stories, did some editing practice, and are looking forward to collaborating with some grade 9 classes next week to get some feedback on our written work thus far. We also completed spelling list #12 this week.
In Social Studies, we continued our research work. Some of us are really working on our collaboration skills and finding effective group work strategies when we do not always agree.
For Math, this week we started a really big group project. All students were placed into pre-selected groups, and are working to become the owners of a brand new professional sports team. We are incorporating some art skills, writing skills, and a whole plethora of various math skills along the way.
The students also were given an information sheet about the parent meeting for Camp Chief Hector. The students are asked to return the second page of this letter to Strickland before March 6th. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to email me.
Science
Students should have their animal/plant report completed with comments and grades in PowerSchool. They’ve been working on
understanding vocabulary and key concepts in topics#1-4. They have two more
days left to finish a mini mind map of the bold words in the first 4 topics. Next
week they will be having a vocabulary quiz/test.
